This is one of the few still lives in the Francois Krige Montagu Collection. This pencil sketch of a sunflower is more fine-lined than most of the portraits in Krige’s art. This botanical study possibly belongs to Krige’s ‘protea collection’. Krige really gets into the finer details, capturing the textures and the movement of the sunflower with his pen.
